Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is Nepal’s only hunting reserve, located in the western region across Baglung, Myagdi, and Rukum districts. Established in 1987, it covers a vast area of alpine meadows, forests, and rugged mountains, offering a unique blend of wildlife conservation and controlled hunting.

The reserve is home to diverse wildlife, including blue sheep (bharal), Himalayan tahr, musk deer, and even elusive species like the snow leopard. It also supports a variety of bird species and rich vegetation, making it an important ecological area.

Visitors can explore scenic landscapes, enjoy trekking, and observe wildlife in their natural habitat. While hunting is strictly regulated and requires special permits, the area is also open to trekkers and nature lovers. Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve offers a rare combination of adventure, biodiversity, and remote Himalayan beauty.
